**Ducati’s 2025 MotoGP Gamble: Losing Pramac, Gaining Marquez and Bagnaia in Search of Glory**
Dall'Igna: The departure of Pramac is balanced by having 'the greatest riders in Ducati history' in MotoGP 2025
Gigi Dall’Igna anticipates the factory Ducati team for the upcoming year.
Ducati's general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, mentioned that the company will be at a disadvantage in 2025 without Pramac. However, this is balanced out by having what he calls the "best riders ever" in the history of the brand's MotoGP team.
The leading force in MotoGP this season made a stunning announcement this summer regarding the 2025 rider lineup. Contrary to previous plans to elevate Jorge Martin to its official team, the decision was made to favor Marc Marquez instead.
As a result, Martin joined Aprilia, and the Pramac team, backed by the factory, decided to sign a satellite agreement with Yamaha for 2025.
This signifies that Ducati will field six motorcycles on the track next year, down from their current count of eight. The official factory team will comprise Francesco Bagnaia, Marquez, and Fabio Di Giannantonio from VR46.
Dall’Igna acknowledges that Ducati will be at a disadvantage in 2025 due to losing Pramac, but believes that the benefits acquired by the factory team more than compensate for this loss.
In an interview with motogp.com, Dall’Igna stated that they are likely the pioneering manufacturer attempting to utilize data from the satellite team to enhance the bike, although they will have fewer chances to do this going forward.
"The other producers realized that achieving something like this was feasible, and thus, this has become the situation."
“In general, we will be less strong next season due to having fewer riders.”
"However, looking at the other perspective, our factory team is likely to feature the greatest riders Ducati has ever had."
"Other teams are not just taking our riders but also many of our technicians; Yamaha, Aprilia, and Honda included. This definitely motivates us to perform at our highest level."
As we approach the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, Ducati holds the leading four positions in the riders' championship. Pramac's Martin is ahead of Bagnaia by seven points.
In the 2024 racing season, Ducati has claimed victory in all but one of the grand prix races, leading Dall’Igna to express his immense satisfaction and pride in their team's accomplishments.
Dall’Igna is confident that Ducati can manage any potential tensions between Bagnaia and Marquez in 2025. Bagnaia, a two-time world champion, recently remarked that having Marquez on the factory Ducati team could either be extremely beneficial or turn out to be disastrous.
Dall’Igna concurs with Bagnaia’s evaluation but is assured that Ducati can handle any potential friction between the two.
"We had numerous discussions among myself, Mauro Grassilli, and Claudio Domenicali to determine the optimal course of action," Dall’Igna stated regarding Ducati's choice to bring Marquez on board, who secured his initial victories for the team at Aragon and Misano.
“It’s certain that we can choose just one rider, and ultimately, Marc will be the one. We are genuinely pleased with this choice.
"I truly concur with Pecco's opinion. Indeed, they are among the top competitors in the championship, and their personalities are exceptionally strong."
"Therefore, it is crucial that we handle them effectively over the coming year."
"To be honest, I feel pretty sure that we can handle things well, and ultimately, I am hopeful that this year will turn out to be an excellent one for Ducati rather than a catastrophe."
