Christian Horner Denies Blocking Jos Verstappen from Legends Parade Amid Rising Tensions
'No Objections from Me' – Christian Horner's Confident Reply to Jos Verstappen's Allegation
Red Bull Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner rebuffs accusations made by Max Verstappen's dad, Jos.
Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner maintains that he did not block Jos Verstappen's proposed participation in the Austrian Grand Prix Legends Parade, according to a report by Lewis Larkam from Austria.
A rift seems to have grown between Christian Horner and Max Verstappen’s father, who has accused Horner of intentionally preventing him from driving the 2012 championship-winning RB8 in the Legends Parade at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday.
Verstappen Sr criticized Horner, calling him "immature," and stated in an interview with Formule1.nl that he is "totally done" with the Red Bull team boss.
During Friday's FIA press conference in Austria, Horner was asked about the news circulating in Dutch media.
“I’ve been informed,” Horner mentioned. “The Legends Parade is an event that the track coordinates.
"I didn't block anything, and I'm confident the Legends will participate at a later time."
Horner, who had a disagreement with Verstappen Sr during the season's first race in Bahrain, gave a guarded reply when questioned about their current relationship.
"The bond with Max has consistently been excellent and robust," stated Horner. "He's an essential member of our team. It's crucial to maintain a strong connection with him since he is our driver."
"I’ve never encountered any problems with the fathers of our drivers before. As for Jos’s concerns, I have no comments to offer."
He was subsequently questioned about how crucial it is to keep a positive rapport with the father of his top driver.
Horner responded by saying, "What matters to me is how the team performs. We have an amazing group of people. With Max, we have the top driver globally."
"He joined our team as a young individual and has continuously developed and matured. Both as a driver and as a person, he has shown significant growth. His professionalism and collaboration with the team are exceptional, and that's what I find most important."
The focus is on the team's performance and how they operate collectively. We've achieved significant success, winning 70% of the races this year, even with various distractions. This includes victories in two sprint races and securing seven pole positions. Currently, we are leading in both world championships.
"Indeed, not everything in life is within our control. I can't manage relationships with the fathers of our drivers. However, my priority is on how well our drivers perform and the overall performance of our team. That's where my attention will stay."
When questioned about the issues in the relationship, Horner responded by stating, "I don’t believe discussing Jos further is beneficial."
"Our primary attention is on Max. He’s the one driving for us, under contract, and we’re concentrating on winning this grand prix with him."
