Alonso Urges Aston Martin to ‘Work Harder, Talk Less’ After Disappointing Spanish GP
Fernando Alonso advises Aston Martin to put in more effort and focus on actions rather than words after a challenging performance at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso has urged Aston Martin to "put in more effort" and "speak less" after a disappointing performance at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.
Aston Martin left the Spanish Grand Prix without earning any points, as their performance continues to decline.
Although they didn't begin this year as strongly as the previous one, their performance has noticeably declined even with the implementation of significant improvements.
In the initial phase of the race, Alonso was passed by Sauber's Valtteri Bottas, which was quite surprising considering the difficulties faced by the team from Switzerland.
Looking back on Aston Martin’s performance in Barcelona, Alonso shared with selected media, including Crash.net: “I’m somewhat let down because we didn’t earn any points. It’s a fair outcome since we lacked speed throughout the entire weekend.”
"During the race, it was incredibly challenging. Excessive sliding in the corners leads to significant tire wear, creating a dual issue."
"You lack speed and are experiencing significant tire wear. Overall, it has been an exhausting race for us. We need to make improvements."
Alonso is worried that Aston Martin's struggles will persist in the upcoming races.
With the back-to-back races in Austria and Silverstone approaching, Alonso is concerned that Aston Martin's performance will continue to be underwhelming.
He expressed his frustration but acknowledged that nothing could be changed at this point. As soon as the chequered flag appeared, his thoughts shifted to Austria and what could be done differently there.
"However, I believe it will be challenging too, as it shares some features with Barcelona, including the extended turns. It’s likely to be another difficult weekend, possibly at Silverstone as well."
"We must not let frustration take over. Now is the moment to increase our efforts, speak less, and achieve more. This is our goal."
Aston Martin holds the fifth position in the Formula 1 constructors' standings with a total of 44 points, having a 20-point lead over RB.
