Tragic Start to School Year: Bus Crash in Eastern China Kills 11, Injures Dozens Outside Junior High School
In eastern China, a tragic incident occurred when a bus plowed into a crowd outside a school, resulting in the deaths of five children and six adults. The bus driver has been taken into custody following the crash, which left 11 people dead and several others injured. This incident comes shortly after local media reported on new safety protocols intended to protect students.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in East China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State media outlet CCTV reported that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to the Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that a school bus, tasked with transporting students, lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Law enforcement officials have since taken the driver into custody, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
