Tragic Start to School Year: 11 Killed, Including Students and Parents, in Eastern China Bus Crash
In eastern China, a tragic incident occurred when a bus struck a group of people outside a school, resulting in the deaths of 5 children and 6 adults. Following the crash, which also left many injured, authorities detained the bus driver. This incident comes shortly after national media emphasized new steps to enhance student safety.
On Tuesday morning, a bus collided with a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 deaths and 24 injuries.
State media outlet CCTV reported that an accident took place at approximately 7am in front of Foshan Junior High School located in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the new academic year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of any further casualties has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus used for transporting students. It lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Police have taken the driver into custody and are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
