A Tory election contender has issued an apology for making light of the date rape drug Rohypnol in social media comments dating back to 2012.
In communications obtained by Sky News, Oliver Johnstone, a candidate for Parliament in Stockport, expressed, "if [sic] it weren't for the lure of material possessions, how else would you expect me to attract someone," and followed up in another text with: "Well, that or rohypnol."
The ex-council member from Stockport conveyed to Sky News, "I sincerely apologize for those remarks, which were made several years ago."

He had shared his thoughts on a social media post that condemned "Steak and Blowjob Day," an online meme that emerged as a purported male counterpart to Valentine's Day.
In his reply to the post, Mr. Johnstone commented: "Seems like we've stumbled upon a new theme for International Men's Day… I don't see the issue… you women are overly accustomed to this whole liberation idea."
