**”Sergio Perez Eyes Redemption at Spanish GP After Canadian ‘Disaster'”**
Sergio Perez requires a 'triumphant weekend' following the 'catastrophe' in Canada.
Sergio Perez acknowledges that he must improve his recent Formula 1 performance at the forthcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez admitted that he requires a "strong performance" at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix after calling his experience in Canada a "disaster."
The Mexican driver had a difficult weekend in Montreal, failing to get past Q1 for the second consecutive race. On Sunday, he crashed out of the grand prix after making minimal headway through the pack.
Perez has only managed to secure four points over the past three races, causing him to drop to fifth in the drivers' standings, trailing his teammate Max Verstappen by 87 points.
Perez remarked that he understands the importance of having a good weekend in Spain following the disappointing experience in Canada.
"Occasionally, it's necessary to take a step back and reassess things, which we've done since the previous race. I spent time in Milton Keynes collaborating with the team to pinpoint areas for improvement and to make sure I'm maximizing the performance of this car."
"I have faith in both the car's capabilities and our ability to get the most out of it, but I need to demonstrate that more effectively on the track in Barcelona. I always look forward to the Spanish Grand Prix; it feels very familiar and the hospitality is exceptional."
"I'm very familiar with this track, and the RB20 is expected to perform well here. It's up to us to execute everything correctly and achieve the outcome we know we're capable of."
Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, has called on Perez to regain his earlier performance levels following a series of challenging races, as Perez faces a three-place grid penalty in Spain.
"It was a tough weekend for Checo and unfortunately, we sustained some damage. He will need to bounce back with a strong performance in Barcelona," Horner mentioned to Sky Sports.
“Fortunately for us, Ferrari had a rough day and didn’t earn any points, which eased the pressure on us a bit. However, it's crucial that both our cars score points. We were lucky this time, but we need Checo to return to his strong form from earlier in the year, starting from Barcelona onwards.”
