Ricciardo’s Red Bull Return on the Horizon? Decision Pending as F1 Summer Break Looms
Daniel Ricciardo's perspective as Red Bull considers a change in their driver lineup
"However, as usual, I'm concentrating solely on my performance and what actions I can take. The story seems to shift every couple of races."
Daniel Ricciardo is concentrating on enhancing his own driving skills in an effort to make a strong impression on the senior executives at Red Bull before the F1 season pauses for the summer holiday.
Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are planning to convene during the break to talk about the co-driver's status at Red Bull, according to reports.
Red Bull is facing intense competition in the Formula 1 constructors' standings, as McLaren achieved a first and second place finish in the recent Hungarian Grand Prix.
Red Bull currently holds a slender margin of just 51 points, and given Sergio Perez's lack of improvement, they could be compelled to make a switch.
Ricciardo is being considered by Red Bull, with Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson also among the potential choices.
During the FIA press conference held in Belgium, with Crash.net in attendance in the paddock area, Ricciardo addressed inquiries regarding his career prospects and potential "driver changes."
"I'm uncertain, truly uncertain," he expressed. "However, as usual, I'm concentrating on my own efforts and capabilities. The story seems to shift every race or so."
"That's the nature of the game we're engaged in. Events unfold at a rapid pace. The key in such moments is to concentrate on your own progress, maximizing personal gains and then letting the current of events guide the outcome. My strategy remains unchanged."
"Arriving in Budapest, I was aware that the two upcoming weekends before the break were crucial, and I aimed to enter the break with some momentum. That's my current focus. To perform well."
Ricciardo has verified that he continues to maintain regular contact with Horner and Marko, even though he is no longer competing for the Red Bull main team.
Last year, he served as their third driver until he was promoted to AlphaTauri, taking over Nyck de Vries' position.
He further mentioned, "I continue to communicate frequently with Christian and Helmut from that group," he explained. "Quite often, honestly, a significant amount still involves them. As for the rest of the team, not so much, since I'm over here concentrating on the tasks at hand with my own team and engineers."
"Previously, my experience was laid bare. I found myself in the midst of drivers' gatherings and follow-up discussions, inquiring with every engineer present."
"It's evident that things have changed. Both Christian and Helmut remain. It's refreshing to see them following a successful outcome. Helmut makes it clear whenever the outcomes aren't favorable. I truly enjoy being back in that situation and under such scrutiny.”
