Quartararo Critiques Yamaha’s Test Team Organization Amid New Pramac Partnership for 2025 MotoGP Season
Fabio Quartararo Critiques Yamaha's Testing Team Organization
Fabio Quartararo Offers Insight into Yamaha's Testing Roster Configuration
Fabio Quartararo has described Yamaha's MotoGP testing squad as somewhat disorganized, emphasizing the increased significance of their collaboration with Pramac set for 2025.
Before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, Yamaha revealed that Jack Miller had been contracted for a one-year term to team up with Miguel Oliveira at Pramac.
In a significant move, Yamaha will collaborate with a satellite partner for the first time since 2022. This partnership will be fully backed by the factory, aiming to enhance the evolution of the M1.
The testing squad is poised to onboard departing Tech3 GASGAS competitor Augusto Fernandez, and Andrea Dovizioso, who has 15 MotoGP victories to his name, is rumored to be associated with the team following recent sessions on the motorcycle.
Amidst Cal Crutchlow facing challenges with injuries this season and Yamaha lacking a satellite team, the bulk of the testing responsibilities have fallen on Quartararo and Alex Rins.
Quartararo is now convinced that Yamaha is heading towards significant enhancements in their motorcycle's performance.
"From the start of the year, the objective was to establish a satellite team for the factory and to enhance the performance of the test team," he explained.
The testing team is somewhat disorganized, making it challenging to conduct tests and give approvals.
"Thus, both Alex and I are required to conduct tests not only throughout the race weekend but also during private testing sessions."
"Indeed, the challenge was significant. Currently, Dovi is undertaking several trials. His feedback has been quite positive."
"Augusto's status isn't finalized, but it appears he's making solid progress. Additionally, having Jack and Miguel riding the factory motorcycles will significantly contribute to the bike's development."
"Therefore, I believe Yamaha is on the verge of experiencing several benefits, and I anticipate significant enhancements to the motorcycle."
Quartararo had a successful weekend at the San Marino GP, securing a seventh-place finish after qualifying directly for Q2.
After a successful day of testing on the Monday following the race, the rider from France believes the M1 is heading towards improvement.
"He further mentioned that the results were definitely favorable."
"We've put in a considerable amount of effort, adopting new methods, particularly in terms of the chassis design, which seems to be showing signs of improvement."
"However, with the expectation that this weekend… if we manage to advance directly to Q2 from Friday, it will entirely transform our weekend. So, we're aiming to be among the top 10 right from the start on Friday."
