Pecco Bagnaia Battles Pain and Injury After Aragon MotoGP Crash Ahead of San Marino GP
Pecco Bagnaia "in significant pain" following crash with Alex Marquez at Aragon MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia has reported experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder after his collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP.
Francesco Bagnaia has given an account of the injuries he sustained following his collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP last weekend.
The two riders collided when Marquez went off course at turn 12 during the 18th lap of the Grand Prix. Bagnaia, who had initially begun the race in third position but fell to seventh due to a slow start, was recovering positions and appeared poised to snatch the final podium spot from Marquez.
The Italian rider attempted to capitalize on Marquez's mistake at turn 12 by making a move at turn 13, approximately a hundred meters later. However, their collision resulted in both riders being unable to finish the race.
Bagnaia had a difficult fall under Marquez's bike and subsequently went to the medical center for evaluation.
In an interview with MotoGP.com following the Aragon race, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing "neck pain" but noted that "it could be a lot worse, so it's manageable."

In an Instagram story where he detailed the incident, Bagnaia mentioned that he was experiencing discomfort in his left shoulder.
"I capitalized on Alex Marquez taking a wide line to pass him and then went into the subsequent corner with a broader trajectory, aware that another rider was present. Thus, it's unfortunate that the situation concluded as it did, especially given the challenging weekend we had already faced," Bagnaia's statement says.
"Following another challenging beginning, attributed to the difficult grid position, I managed to stage a solid recovery and was significantly faster. Currently, I'm experiencing considerable pain, particularly in my left shoulder, but it seems that there are no fractures."
“We’ll strive to be in top shape for Misano.”
As the San Marino Grand Prix approaches this weekend, Bagnaia has just four days to regain his fitness before practice starts for his home race. This scenario is quite similar to last year, when he had a crash at the Catalan Grand Prix and came to Misano with leg injuries.
Last year, despite being injured, Bagnaia secured third place in both the Sprint and Grand Prix events. However, the impact of his recent crash in Aragon on his performance in Misano will only become evident once practice sessions start on Friday morning.
