Brad Binder’s ‘Rolling Burnout’ and Jack Miller’s Last-Lap Heartbreak Highlight Aragon MotoGP Drama
Brad Binder: "I ended up doing a rolling burnout again!", Jack Miller: "Rins got past me"
Brad Binder: "Last night, I came up with a solid strategy to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder had his most successful MotoGP weekend since the start of the season in Qatar, finishing in 4th and 6th place at the Aragon race.
Although he veered off course during both races, his seventh-place finish came from the cleaner side of a messy starting lineup.
Binder trailed rookie Pedro Acosta during the middle of the race, a duel that turned into a contest for third place when Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta remained just beyond grasp.
Last night, I came up with an excellent strategy to avoid spinning out at the start, and just like yesterday, I did a rolling burnout again!" Binder said with a smile.
"I navigated carefully and overtook several competitors. It wasn't easy to avoid errors since the front tire was overheating while trailing others up until the final part of the race."
"I attempted to gain time by accelerating out of the corners since I couldn't enter them quickly due to the front tire overheating. However, this strategy backfired as the left side of the tire wore out completely by the end."
"I did everything I could to overtake Pedro, but I had no power left from behind!"
“We made several encouraging advancements this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective throughout the race.”
Fellow racer Jack Miller had a strong start, moving up from 15th on the grid to eighth place by the end of the first lap. However, the Australian quickly faced issues with rear tire grip.
After being overtaken by Alex Rins for ninth place on the final lap, he, along with two other riders, was penalized with a 16-second penalty for post-race tire pressure issues, which caused him to fall to 15th position.
“It was a lengthy race,” commented Miller. “The track conditions have varied once more. It has been dirty for most of the weekend, but today it seemed slipperier.”
“I gave it my all. It was tough to manage the [medium] rear tire, and I experienced a major highside incident while exiting the final corner."
"I found my pace and tried to maintain it carefully. There were several challenges transitioning from the outer part of the tire to the center, but I managed to finish successfully."
"I didn't make any errors during the race, but I had trouble keeping up with the guys ahead of me. We'll continue to push forward."
"Thrilled to finish in the top ten, but Rins overtook me on the back straight during the final lap. I tried to be as accurate as possible, but I lost momentum, allowing him to pass me."
“We will return to Misano.”
Test rider Pol Espargaro will increase the number of KTM participants to five this weekend.
“Now head to Misano with the upcoming test and Pol's wildcard in mind, as this will provide us with some assistance moving forward,” stated team manager Francesco Guidotti.
The initial Misano MotoGP race will begin with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, placing Acosta in fifth position in the world championship standings.
Miller, who might be officially announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider during the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place and just three points behind Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo.
