Aragon MotoGP Grand Prix: Marc Marquez Leads Throughout, Pecco Bagnaia Exits After Collision with Alex Marquez
Marc Marquez showcased a commanding performance from start to finish at the Aragon MotoGP Grand Prix, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended prematurely due to an incident involving Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix event for MotoGP, Marc Marquez clinched his inaugural Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, securing the victory with a commanding performance.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased outstanding speed and ultimately secured victory, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash after colliding with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia was making impressive progress up the ranks, having initially lost traction with his rear tyre due to starting on a less clean part of the track. He quickly moved up from seventh position at the outset, to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's crash, then to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and finally to fourth after pushing Pedro Acosta into an error at the sixteenth turn.
During an attempt to overtake Marquez, who had deviated off course at the twelfth turn, Bagnaia managed to move in front as they headed into the thirteenth turn. However, as Bagnaia was navigating the turn, he collided with Marquez, resulting in both riders crashing.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical facility, but there has been no further information released regarding his state.
The collision between the two racers elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he finished nearly 15 seconds after the victor.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth despite beginning from 14th place. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales likewise withdrew from the race.
Following the race, inquiries were initiated into Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez regarding the pressure of their front tires.
