Suzuki creates five exclusive GSX-8R models in honor of Capirossi
Ex-MotoGP rider Loris Capirossi now has five versions of Suzuki's GSX-8R road motorcycle named in his honor.
Loris Capirossi had an extensive career in grand prix racing, starting in 1990 in the 125cc category, where he won the championship in both his debut and the following year.
The Italian rider clinched the 250cc championship in 1998 with Aprilia, then advanced to the top-tier category in 2000 on a Honda, securing one win in his debut season.
Loris Capirossi continued racing with Honda motorcycles until the conclusion of the 2002 season. In 2003, he transitioned to the official Ducati team as they entered MotoGP for the first time, also marking his inaugural season riding a four-stroke grand prix motorcycle.

In that year, he made history by becoming the first rider to win a MotoGP race for Ducati. He stayed with the team until the conclusion of the 2007 season, after which he moved to Suzuki.
Loris Capirossi rode the GSV-R motorcycle for three seasons until the end of 2010, but he only achieved a single podium finish during that period. He then participated in one last MotoGP season in 2011, racing for Pramac Racing on a Ducati bike.
During the latest Turin Motor Show, Suzuki introduced the Legend Edition Capirossi model of its GSX-8R.
The model with 82 brake horsepower, equipped with a 776cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine and a tubular steel frame, is a special edition dedicated to Capirossi, with only five units produced.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Capirossi mentioned in the Piazza Castello that he had tested it for the first time right there in the square.
"It's stunning, incredibly nimble, and quick."
Reflecting on his MotoGP stint with Suzuki, he mentioned, "Those were amazing years filled with wonderful memories."
Capirossi holds a significant position in the MotoGP paddock, serving as Dorna Sports' delegate in Race Direction.
Earlier this year, Loris Capirossi's 2003 Ducati GP3, which he rode to his first season victory for the Italian brand, was auctioned at Silverstone and fetched £201,250.
