Leclerc’s Heartfelt Wish for Ferrari: A Winning Car Amidst F1 Struggles
Charles Leclerc of Ferrari expresses regret, saying, "I wish our car could win."
Charles Leclerc speaks on "our current circumstances…"
Charles Leclerc has voiced his frustration over Ferrari's inability to keep pace with their competitors.
The renowned Italian automaker has fallen behind Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes in the Formula 1 rankings in the latest races.
Leclerc and his teammate Sainz have each secured grand prix victories this season, however, they currently lack the competitive equipment to match the speed of their competitors.
"At the moment, we haven't reached our desired level of performance, but we're putting in a lot of effort," Leclerc explained to The Gentleman’s Journal.
"I firmly believe that we have a promising future ahead, thanks to our team and our approach to work."
"Definitely, given our current circumstances, I'd love for us to have a car that could win."
Sainz emerged victorious in Australia, replicating his success from last year in Singapore, marking himself as the sole driver to break Red Bull's streak of race victories.
Leclerc, filled with emotion, ultimately secured his first victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, his home race.
In recent events, McLaren and Mercedes have emerged as the main challengers to Red Bull.
Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell have each secured victories in Grand Prix races this year.
Earlier this year, Ferrari chose to prioritize Leclerc over Sainz, securing him with a profitable long-term deal. Next year, he will team up with Hamilton, who will also be donning the Ferrari red.
"He stated that his goal, in partnership with Ferrari, is to secure a Formula 1 world championship title, and nothing more."
"My sole interest lies with Ferrari at the moment, so that's where my attention is dedicated."
Leclerc confessed, "I didn't anticipate being in my current position."
"My dad constantly emphasized the challenges and the slim chances that come with it. He mentioned that having talent alone isn't enough to make it to Formula 1."
"Numerous children worldwide possess remarkable talents; however, it takes a stroke of fortune to be in the optimal location when opportunities arise, coupled with having a support system to guide you through."
"I was fortunate enough to receive support from Ferrari from an early stage, and my manager played a significant role in helping me reach my current position."
