Honor Dethrones Samsung to Dominate Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has secured the top position in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone company from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics, earning the top spot as the leading manufacturer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per information from the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, has emerged as the leader for the first time in the second quarter. Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a highly competitive arena for companies like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, who introduced its well-liked Magic V2, a book-style device, globally last September, experienced a 455 per cent increase in its worldwide foldable shipments in the second quarter. This was the most significant annual growth recorded among all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the top brand for foldable phones for the second quarter in a row, largely due to its strong sales in China, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
