Fernando Alonso: The Age-Defying Force of Formula 1 Still Hungry for Success, Says Flavio Briatore
"Fernando Alonso's Distinctive Drive: As Eager as a Rookie in F1"
"His daily display of unwavering determination is unparalleled"
Flavio Briatore expressed uncertainty regarding the duration of Fernando Alonso's career in Formula 1, noting that Alonso remains as driven as a newcomer to the sport.
Briatore, presently in a consulting position with Alpine, has managed Alonso's Formula 1 career from the start. Additionally, he was in charge of the Renault team when Alonso secured his two global championships in 2005 and 2006.
At 43, he stands as the most senior competitor among the current Formula 1 racers and has recently agreed to extend his contract with Aston Martin until the close of 2026.
On the Formula For Success podcast, Briatore responded to inquiries regarding Alonso's career prospects.
"Briatore started off by saying, “For 22 years, I've been handling Fernando Alonso's management. It's like we've been married for 22 years.”
"Fernando remains a challenge to comprehend, as his drive and enthusiasm continue to mirror that of a newcomer."
"He's in excellent shape, possibly even in better condition now than when he was racing for me [at Renault]."
He resides in Monaco and engages in daily cycling, covering distances of 60, 70, to 80 kilometers each day.
He visits the gym daily. Whenever we dine out, he is extremely cautious, always sticking to his diet without fail.
"He's incredible. It's hard to say. Inquiring whether Fernando intends to keep going past our final agreement… our concluding year is set for 2026, as of now.
"I'm uncertain if he plans to carry on for an additional year after this."
"The show of skill is evident, it's clear to see. There's no doubt that his focus remains intact."
"In every competition, his ambition is unwavering: occupying the 11th spot, he aims for the 10th; finding himself in 10th, his sights are set on 9th."
"He aims for the car to be a contender. His qualifying performances and race execution are commendable."
"Truthfully, it's unclear whether he plans to halt in 2026 or extend it by another year."
"It's uncertain. It really hinges on his passion for racing and the circumstances at that moment. Whether he'll have a family by then is also an unknown factor."
"Certainly, he's a one-of-a-kind individual. I've never encountered anyone with such consistent determination."
Alonso continues to show his prowess in the later years of his Formula 1 journey, achieving eight podium finishes for Aston in the previous season and presently holding the ninth position in the drivers' rankings, consistently securing placements within the top eight.
