Soccer players, football clubs, tennis competitions, and Paralympic athletes have joined forces with the EU's #UseYourVote campaign ahead of the European elections from June 6 to June 9.
Prominent female football players, including the captain of Belgium's Red Flames, Tessa Wullaert, German national team player Anna Johanning, and Finnish international Sanni Franssi, along with other women's football stars, have signed a football bearing the #UseYourVote campaign. A similar campaign is being run in men's football around the time of the Champions League final on Saturday, with major European clubs like Europa League winners Atalanta, FC Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and SSC Napoli using or planning to use their platforms to encourage citizens to vote.
In Brussels, Belgian national football team player Amadou Onana hosted a mini-tournament for youths aged 16 to 18 on May 25th, with the aim of encouraging them to participate in voting for the first time. During the 20-kilometer Brussels Run on May 26th, 1,300 employees from various European institutions participated under the campaign "Running for Europe," and they also set up a booth at the finish line to raise awareness about the upcoming election.
During the "Internationaux de Strasbourg Women’s Tennis Association (WTA)" tournament in Strasbourg from May 18 to May 25, a banner for the #UseYourVote campaign was displayed at the venue and an information booth was set up. Additionally, Veronika Yoko, the Italian bronze medalist in Paralympic Triathlon, sported a scarf featuring the #UseYourVote campaign during Milan Fashion Week.
