Daniel Ricciardo Reprimanded for Unusual Pit Lane Weaving Incident at British GP
Daniel Ricciardo received a reprimand due to an atypical weaving incident in the pit lane during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Daniel Ricciardo received a reprimand from the F1 stewards following an unusual weaving incident in the pit lane during the last practice session for the British Grand Prix.
During the third practice session, Ricciardo was observed swerving while driving through the pit lane.
The officials promptly observed and looked into Ricciardo's unexpected behavior.
Ricciardo attempted to warm up his intermediate tires, but doing so in the pit lane was hazardous due to the nearby cars and mechanics.
The officials chose to issue a reprimand to Ricciardo after the RB driver admitted that his behavior "didn't look good."
The officials stated: "The team advised the driver to maintain tire temperatures while entering the pit lane, and the driver decided to swerve in the fast lane."
Several team members were stationed in nearby pit areas next to the fast lane, creating a potential hazard where Car 3's swerving could have led to collisions with these individuals, particularly given the slippery conditions.
The driver of Car 3 admitted that his behavior "didn't look good" and promised the Stewards that he would never do it again.
If Ricciardo had lost control and spun his car, he probably would have received a grid penalty.
Valtteri Bottas received a three-position grid penalty for the Styrian Grand Prix due to spinning his Mercedes in the pit lane.
As Bottas was not attempting to heat up his tires, he ended up losing control of his vehicle.
Luckily, Bottas managed to steer clear of hitting any people or objects in the pit lane.
The officials at that moment considered it to be "possibly hazardous driving."
