China’s Communist Party Introduces Stricter Membership Rules to Bolster Faith, Loyalty, and Performance
China's Communist Party introduces regulations to govern devotion, allegiance, and efficiency
The rules focus on members who have not committed major violations but display a 'lack of revolutionary spirit' or do not promptly pay their membership dues.
On Thursday, the party's central office issued new guidelines stating that members who underperform and whose actions do not necessarily justify a formal corruption probe should be expelled from the party, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
Consisting of 27 articles, the regulations are "essential for thorough and strict" party self-purification, as per Xinhua, citing an official from the Central Organisation Department, the leading personnel office of the party.

According to an official speaking to Xinhua, this latest set of rules is aimed specifically at party members who "lack a revolutionary spirit, neglect their party duties, or no longer satisfy the criteria for party membership," unlike previous disciplinary actions taken against members for infractions like corruption.
An official emphasized the importance of forming a team composed of members who possess firmer convictions, higher political dependability, superior attributes, stricter discipline, and more substantial contributions.
