Carlos Sainz Addresses F1 Deadline Speculation Amid Mercedes Rumors
Carlos Sainz speaks out on rumors about F1 deadlines after being reportedly ruled out as a potential Mercedes team member.
Carlos Sainz appears to have dismissed claims that he's out of contention for a spot at Mercedes for the 2025 Formula One season.
Before the Monaco Grand Prix, Sky Sports journalist Craig Slater stated that Mercedes was no longer an option for Sainz because of a disagreement over "timelines".
Mercedes intends to delay any decisions regarding Andrea ai-allcreator.com">Kimi Antonelli until the summer break, whereas Sainz is keen to have his future plans confirmed soon.
Sainz continues to be Audi's preferred choice, yet he remains optimistic about receiving an offer from either Red Bull or Mercedes.
During a briefing in Monaco on Thursday, Sainz spoke to a group of journalists, including those from Crash.net, saying, “Indeed, I believe we're all interconnected. Formula 1 operates in a cyclical manner and, to be honest, I have yet to decide. I'm uncertain about which team I'll be with next season.
"I haven't established a specific timeline either, but what I can say is that at this critical juncture in my career, it's essential for me to consider all available choices thoroughly. Given that I'm on the verge of turning 30, the upcoming venture is something I'm determined to succeed in and evaluate its effectiveness. Therefore, I'm allowing myself ample time to make a well-informed decision."
Sainz has expressed that the duration it's taking doesn't concern him regarding the possibility of being overlooked for other opportunities like Audi.
"Indeed, that's because I'm privy to information beyond what's publicly known. You all might hear whispers and speculation, but rest assured, I won't reveal any secrets," he further explained.
"I plan to lay out all possible choices and make an informed decision. Once I've made up my mind, actions will follow swiftly. It's essentially about assembling all the elements I believe are necessary for my upcoming contract."
Sainz declined to verify if Mercedes is definitely out of the equation:
"I'm unable to verify that, I apologize," he ended.
