Anthony Hamilton Hails Son Lewis’s ‘Full Control’ Victory at British Grand Prix
Anthony Hamilton's take on Lewis Hamilton's victory at the F1 British Grand Prix.
Anthony Hamilton, father of Lewis Hamilton, is convinced that his son had complete command over the British Grand Prix after he took the lead during the final pit stop stage.
Hamilton triumphed once again, marking his first victory since 2021, and clinched his ninth win on home ground in his Formula 1 career.
The seven-time world champion made a pivotal pit stop for slick tyres one lap before Lando Norris, who was leading the race at that moment.
This enabled Hamilton to secure a favorable position on the track, which he maintained despite a strong push from Max Verstappen towards the end, marking his 104th victory.
Anthony Hamilton, Lewis's father, has been a crucial figure in the journey of the Mercedes racer, starting from his early days in karting.
In an interview with Sky Sports following Hamilton's comeback victory, Anthony remarked, "Wasn't that insane? There was no way he was surrendering that lead. All you had to do was keep an eye on the lap times."
"A bit at a time, whether it was a tenth of a second here or there, it simply didn't make a difference to the situation. Lewis dominated entirely. Given the condition of his current tyre and the ones he was using, he was determined not to let the victory escape, especially in front of the British fans. That determination was his driving force."
Hamilton's most recent victory at Silverstone marks his ninth in front of his local fans.
In 2008, he secured his initial victory under challenging circumstances, finishing with a lead of more than 50 seconds
With the shift in weather, Anthony believed Hamilton truly thrived on Sunday.
"He mentioned, 'I consistently sense it, as I'm always aware of it.' He further noted, 'Ultimately, Lewis secured the second spot the day before. He felt let down, reflecting on his performance with thoughts of 'I could have performed more effectively' after the qualifying rounds."
"He returns to his residence, regains his concentration, and reappears. It's clear he has meticulously planned everything."
"He's bided his time for the surroundings to shift. And once they do, that's when he truly shines."
He continued, "It's fantastic for the squad and the people of Britain. It's unbelievable; as I was navigating through the crowds, I noticed everyone in shorts and t-shirts, all geared up for the typical British weather. Yet, here they are, showing up without any complaints, eagerly anticipating an exciting weekend."
"What a sense of pride we have in being able to offer this. It matters not just to the fans in Britain, but it's also a significant boon for the world of motorsport, right?"
