WorldSBK Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu Eyes MotoGP Move in 2025 Amidst Paddock Interest, According to Manager
Toprak Razgatlioglu is eyeing a move from WorldSBK to MotoGP in 2025, as stated by his manager Kenan Sofuoglu.
2024 front-runner in the World Superbike Championship, Toprak Razgatlioglu, is aiming to exit the Superbike World Championship by the end of this year to transition into MotoGP.
According to Speedweek.com, Kenan Sofuoglu, who is Razgatlioglu's manager, was quoted saying:
The MotoGP paddock is showing considerable enthusiasm for Toprak, with an eye on next year already.
We're currently bound by a two-year agreement with BMW, but I've made it clear to them that our intention is to exit the Superbike World Championship by this year's end, aiming to transition into MotoGP.
"I made it clear to them that this is what Toprak desires."
Sofuoglu has previously stated that Razgatlioglu would transition to MotoGP solely as a member of a factory team.
If that remains true, his potential choices for 2025 could include Repsol Honda – a topic of discussion on the recent Crash.net MotoGP podcast – along with Monster Yamaha or Aprilia, given that the primary Ducati and KTM squads have no available spots.
Latest updates indicate that Joan Mir is on the verge of signing a new contract with Repsol Honda, yet according to GPone.com, there's strong interest from Repsol Honda in acquiring Razgatlioglu.
Switching to Yamaha could potentially be more surprising, given that Razgatlioglu didn't adapt well to the M1 during two private test sessions early in the previous year, before leaving Yamaha to sign with BMW.
Meanwhile, Aprilia is rumored to be close to securing Marco Bezzecchi. However, should Pramac switch to Yamaha, Bezzecchi could fulfill his ambition of racing a factory GP25 bike while staying with VR46…
Complicating matters further, it's now believed that BMW is contemplating entering MotoGP, but this decision hinges on anticipated changes to the technical regulations slated for 2027.
