In this memo for the press, the scheduled briefings and logistical support for media professionals covering the European Election from June 6-9 are detailed.
Daily media briefings from Thursday, June 6th to Monday, June 10th
The parliamentary press service will organize an event for media representatives, available both in-person and remotely via Interactio, to provide background details about the European election, including useful statistics and information about the Parliament.
Journalists will gain insights into the methodology used by the European Parliament (EP) for estimating election outcomes, actions taken to ensure the integrity of the European elections, and significant political events following the election. The EP's press service will also provide updates on the transition to the next legislative term, including upcoming legislative initiatives, the election of the President of the Commission, and the process for appointing the next College of Commissioners.
The schedule for these briefings is planned as follows:
Preliminary election results to be released on Sunday, June 9
Preliminary outcomes of the European election are only permitted to be disclosed after 11:00 PM, following the closure of the final polling stations in Italy. Until that time, the Parliament will release estimates based on exit polls.
The plenary hall in Brussels is being transformed into a press room complete with a stage and a designated area for television coverage. Regular updates on the elections will be announced here. Access is limited to accredited journalists and relevant staff members of the European Parliament (EP). Live broadcast positions will also be set up on the Karamanlis Link (the bridge connecting the SPAAK and SPINELLI buildings), on the third floor of the SPINELLI building, and outside on Wiertz Street.
On election night, starting from 5:30 PM, EbS will broadcast a special program which will also be streamed through the Parliament's Multimedia Center, including, among other things:
Updated forecasts will be made available once the parliamentary services receive data from national agencies. The latest revised estimate is anticipated around 1:00 AM on Monday, June 10th.
Ein ausführlicher Plan bezüglich der Prognosen und ersten Resultate wird in den nächsten Tagen herausgegeben.
All information regarding the election results will be accessible on the official website.
The leaders of the EP factions and the primary contenders for the presidency of the EU Commission will address the media later this evening. The factions' press units will also be on hand to respond to inquiries from the media and assist with networking. Contact information can be located here.
Starting Thursday, June 6, multimedia content from all EU member states related to the election will be accessible on the European Broadcasting Service (EBS) and in the European Parliament's Multimedia Center. This includes statements from leading candidates and heads of political groups during their polling in their respective constituencies.

Accreditation and Entry on Election Night
Journalists holding an annual accreditation from the European Parliament can enter its premises by showing their ID, without the need for any additional accreditation.
All journalists seeking access to the Parliament are required to apply for a temporary accreditation through the online accreditation system (JOUREG). Those who already have an EP badge will have it remotely activated once their application is approved via the accreditation portal. Journalists without an EP media pass can collect it from the accreditation center located in front of the Parliament (Esplanade Solidarność, Office 01F035) after their request through JOUREG is granted.
Only media representatives who have been assigned a seat in the plenary hall are permitted to work from that location. The meeting room located in front of the plenary hall (room 3C050 in the SPAAK building) will also be set up as a workspace for the press. Furthermore, journalists have the option to work from the press room located on the ground floor of the SPAAK building.
New EP Events Application
We encourage all reporters covering the European election on the ground to download the "EP events" app, available on Google Play and the App Store. This tool is designed to keep you informed about all parliamentary activities before, during, and after the election. It includes essential details such as Wi-Fi passwords, opening hours, maps, contacts, links, and technical data for audiovisual media.
Parking Options
On the evening of the election, media professionals can use the parliament's parking lot for free by showing a valid accreditation at the entrance. There's no need to use the IZIX app, which is typically employed during regular parliamentary weeks.
Catering Services: Provision of Meals at the Parliament During the Election Weekend
The cafeteria located next to the plenary hall in the SPAAK Building on the third floor will be open on Saturday, June 8th, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sunday, June 9th, it will operate from 11 a.m. until the closing of the EP premises, with the kitchen ceasing service at 10 p.m.
The press bar located on the ground floor of the SPAK building will be open on Sunday, June 9th, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
The Parliament's self-service eatery located on the 12th floor of the SPAAK Building will also be open on Sunday, June 9, from noon until 11 p.m., serving a selection of sandwiches, salads, and hot dishes.
