Verstappen’s Monaco Misery: World Champion Plagued by ‘Kangaroo’ Jumps and Headaches in Practice
Discontent Max Verstappen experienced 'headaches' due to 'bouncing like a kangaroo'
Max Verstappen expressed dissatisfaction with his Red Bull's performance during Friday's practice session in Monaco.
Max Verstappen expressed discomfort over experiencing headaches caused by his Red Bull car's excessive bouncing, which he likened to "jumping like a kangaroo," during the second practice session at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix.
The current world champion faced challenges during Friday's races in Monte Carlo, ending the day in fourth place and trailing the fastest time in the second free practice, set by local hero Charles Leclerc, by more than half a second.
Verstappen expressed dissatisfaction with the RB20's balance and control during the session, mentioning over the team radio that he was having difficulties with the car's performance.
"I feel like I'm bouncing around like a kangaroo, dude! It's giving me migraines. It's insane," the Dutchman expressed.
Sergio Perez, the teammate from Red Bull who finished in eighth place, also felt uneasy in his vehicle.
"The experience is terrible. From my position, the top of Turn 3 is out of sight," the driver from Mexico communicated.
2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button has expressed that the initial indicators could spell trouble for Red Bull and Verstappen.
"His vehicle is unstable, and that's not the ideal configuration for Monaco since it doesn't instill confidence. And that's crucial in this location," Button explained to Sky Sports F1.
Navigating the streets of Monaco requires courage. Yet, they stand as one of the top groups in the industry. They'll examine it thoroughly by tomorrow.
"It's hoped that they will be able to put up more of a fight, for their own benefit. However, it's a tough situation; their car isn't superior to their competitors'."
"It's entirely about having the correct arrangement and the courage of the drivers."
Commentator Naomi Schiff believes that Monaco will present a tougher challenge for Red Bull compared to Imola.
"Schiff mentioned that he indeed reversed his fortunes and delivered an exceptional display in Imola. However, he leans towards the belief that this isn't just a singular occurrence. It appears to be forming into a recurring trend."
"The team was discontent in Imola, with his win being jeopardized. I believe this next event will pose an even greater challenge for them."
