US ‘Coercion’ Blamed by China as Dutch Government Tightens Export Controls on ASML Chip-Making Equipment
China accuses the U.S. of 'force' leading to new Dutch export regulations on ASML chip-manufacturing machinery
The Netherlands authorities have stated their intention to broaden export permit conditions for two ASML lithography instruments.
On Friday, the Netherlands government announced its plans to broaden the export license requirements for ASML's 1970i and 1980i deep ultraviolet (DUV) immersion lithography tools. This move is in line with the export limitations placed on these machines by the United States last year.
Lately, to sustain its worldwide dominance, the US has persistently pressured specific nations to strengthen export control procedures for semiconductors and related machinery. China has firmly objected to this, stated the Chinese commerce ministry, in response to the statement made by the Dutch government on Friday.
The department further stated that the Netherlands should refrain from misusing export controls and steer clear of actions that could harm China-Netherlands semiconductor collaborations. They should also protect the mutual benefits of Chinese and Dutch businesses.
