Tragedy Strikes School in Eastern China: Community Rallies with Blood Drive as Bus Crash Claims Lives and Leaves Many Injured
Five children and six adults have been killed in eastern China after a bus collided with a school group, with the driver now in police custody. Meanwhile, a nearby cinema is facilitating blood donation efforts, responding to a widespread appeal on social media to help the many people injured in the incident.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State media outlet CCTV reported that the accident took place at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back to school.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to the Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
According to authorities, the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. The bus reportedly veered off course while nearing an intersection and collided with a group of people. Law enforcement officers have since taken the driver into custody, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
