Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: Bus Crash Kills 11, Including Children and Parents, Outside School
Five children and six adults have lost their lives in eastern China when a bus plowed into a group of people outside a school. The incident, which also left many injured, occurred shortly after state media reported on new safety protocols intended to protect students. Authorities have since taken the bus driver into custody.
A bus collided with a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
State media outlet CCTV reported that an accident happened at about 7 a.m. in front of Foshan Junior High School located in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back to school.
According to the report, the injured individuals were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
According to law enforcement officials, the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. The bus reportedly veered off course as it neared an intersection, subsequently colliding with a group of people. Authorities have since taken the driver into custody, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
