Trackhouse’s 2025 MotoGP Lineup Uncertainty Amid Rider Market Frenzy
Trackhouse: Current state of rider contracts is chaotic, with the silly season in full swing
Wilco Zeelenberg: "Right now, the paddock is experiencing a lot of chaos – the silly season is in full effect, and I believe all the competitors are gearing up to put their all into the next two races before the summer hiatus."
Trackhouse Racing has not yet announced their lineup of MotoGP riders for the 2025 season, as the rider market remains a major point of interest.
Marco Bezzecchi has recently confirmed his next career move by signing with Aprilia Racing on Monday, becoming the newest member to finalize his plans.
The debut of the Trackhouse racing team in MotoGP is generating significant curiosity regarding which riders will represent the American squad in the upcoming season.
Discussing the atmosphere leading up to the Assen races this weekend, team leader Wilco Zeelenberg remarked, "Currently, the paddock is buzzing with activity – the silly season is in full swing and I believe that all the competitors are geared up to put their all into the next two races before we hit the summer pause.
"Assen holds a unique place for me, primarily because it's the track closest to home. Additionally, its quick circuit design is a favorite among most riders, including myself."
"Now is an opportune moment to reflect on our recent race finishes, and I'm excited about the prospect of picking things up again after gaining some positive momentum and improving our performances with the team. I'm eager to see what we can achieve in Assen!"
It's uncertain if Miguel Oliveira will continue his association with Trackhouse, as there are rumors of him considering other options in his quest to optimize his performance on the 2024-spec RS-GP motorcycle.
Oliveira has amassed a total of 31 points this season and acknowledges that Assen might pose a significant challenge.
Oliveira remarked, "Assen presents a challenging circuit. Its narrow layout combined with the rapid directional shifts makes it somewhat complex to master."
"However, typically, I've really enjoyed racing on this track with the MotoGP motorcycle, so I'm eager to aim for a strong performance this weekend."
Contrary to Oliveira, his teammate Raul Fernandez experienced a timely improvement in performance when it was most crucial.
Fernandez appeared to be at a significant risk of being ousted from MotoGP, yet the Spanish rider has managed to improve his prospects of staying in the competition, thanks to his impressive performance since the Catalunya race.
"This week, we're heading to Assen, a track I hold dear," Fernandez expressed. "I have fond recollections from 2021, where I staged an impressive comeback to clinch a victory in the Moto2 championship.
"I really like the TT Circuit, I believe our motorcycle will perform nicely on this track, and I always have a good time when I'm in the Netherlands.
"Following my time at Mugello, I had an operation on my right arm, so I'm eager to find out how I'll manage with riding this weekend."
