Toprak Razgatlioglu’s MotoGP Move: Analyzing Potential Teams for 2025
Five potential MotoGP teams for Toprak Razgatlioglu in 2025
Which five MotoGP teams are in the best position to bring on Toprak Razgatlioglu?
According to Kenan Sofuoglu, the manager of Toprak Razgatlioglu, Razgatlioglu intends to exit WorldSBK at the conclusion of this year and transition to MotoGP.
What could be his potential destination?
Honda Repsol
Sofuoglu mentioned before that Razgatlioglu would move to MotoGP only if he gets a spot on a factory team.
Repsol Honda has yet to fill one spot next to Luca Marini for the upcoming season, as they await Joan Mir's choice, and they possess the financial resources to cover almost any cost.
The RC213V is now the bike with the lowest performance in the lineup, but Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has the means to improve it. Additionally, having access to special allowances would enable Razgatlioglu to participate in private test sessions.
Yamaha Monster
Monster Yamaha has yet to reveal who will partner with Fabio Quartararo for the 2025 season.
Razgatlioglu secured the WorldSBK championship riding for Yamaha, but after two underwhelming private tests on an M1 last year, he transitioned to BMW. Is there a possibility of an unexpected return?
Yamaha remains slightly behind its European competitors; however, similar to Honda, it benefits from the ability to conduct extensive private tests due to certain allowances. The company is actively working to better its position by forming partnerships with Dallara and Luca Marmorini, as well as hiring prominent engineers from Ducati.
Ducati Pramac
If any situation warranted abandoning the concept of a 'factory team,' Pramac Ducati provides a compelling case. Last year, Pramac helped Jorge Martin secure second place in the world championship, clinched the teams' title, and is currently at the top of the points standings.
The primary inquiry is if they will continue with Ducati or transition to Yamaha equipment. Another possibility for Razgatlioglu could be joining Pramac Yamaha, although he previously turned down a satellite M1 spot with Petronas.
Aprilia Racing Team
As the official teams for Ducati and KTM have already been confirmed for 2025, the most sought-after factory team position still open appears to be with Aprilia, where Jorge Martin has recently been added to the lineup.
Over the past two years, Aprilia has secured victory in four MotoGP races, positioning them just behind Ducati. The company has expressed a preference for having an Italian rider represent them. However, this preference could potentially shift if they get an opportunity to sign Razgatlioglu or consider transitioning an Italian rider to the Trackhouse team.
VR46 and Gresini Ducati
It's a bit of a stretch, but if Pramac switches to Yamaha and their two factory GP25 bikes are given to VR46 and/or Gresini, could that be enough to attract Razgatlioglu?
Both squads have demonstrated their ability to win in MotoGP in recent seasons, with riders Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio di Giannantonio achieving success even on older motorcycles. Gresini's Marc Marquez is presently competing for the 2024 championship.
As of now, no riders have been confirmed by either team for the 202
