Toprak Razgatlioglu’s 2025 MotoGP Odyssey: Exploring Five Potential Team Destinations
Exploring Five Potential MotoGP Teams for Toprak Razgatlioglu in 2025
What are the top five MotoGP squads that could be a good fit for Toprak Razgatlioglu?
Kenan Sofuoglu, the manager of Toprak Razgatlioglu, has stated that Razgatlioglu is planning to exit the World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) after this season and transition to MotoGP.
What could be his next destination?
Honda Racing Corporation
Sofuoglu has made it clear in the past that Razgatlioglu will transition to MotoGP exclusively with a works team.
Repsol Honda has an available spot next to Luca Marini for the upcoming season, awaiting Joan Mir's choice, and possesses the financial capability to match nearly any asking price.
Presently, the RC213V ranks as the most underperforming motorcycle in the competition. However, HRC is well-equipped with the necessary means to improve its standing, and the availability of certain privileges allows Razgatlioglu the opportunity to engage in exclusive testing sessions.
Yamaha Racing
Monster Yamaha has yet to reveal who will be Fabio Quartararo's teammate in 2025.
Razgatlioglu clinched the WorldSBK championship riding for Yamaha, yet his experience with an M1 during two separate tests last year was unsatisfactory, leading him to switch to BMW. Now, there's speculation about a possible unexpected comeback.
Yamaha remains slightly trailing behind its European counterparts; however, like Honda, it has the advantage of conducting significant in-house testing due to concessions. It's actively seeking to enhance its prospects by forming partnerships with Dallara, engaging Luca Marmorini, and recruiting renowned engineers from Ducati.
Team Ducati Pramac
Should there be a case for abandoning the 'factory team' perspective, Pramac Ducati stands as a prime example. Last season, Pramac propelled Jorge Martin to a runner-up finish in the world championship, clinched the team championship, and is currently at the forefront of the points leaderboard.
The major uncertainty revolves around their decision to continue partnering with Ducati or to transition to Yamaha equipment. Additionally, joining Pramac Yamaha could be a possibility for Razgatlioglu, although he previously turned down an offer for a secondary M1 position sponsored by Petronas.
Racing Team April
The official teams for Ducati and KTM have been finalized for 2025, leaving the most coveted factory team position open at Aprilia, where Jorge Martin has recently signed on.
Over the past two years, Aprilia has secured victories in four MotoGP races, ranking them just behind Ducati. The team has expressed a preference for an Italian rider to represent them, however, this stance could evolve if they see an opportunity to sign Razgatlioglu, or perhaps opt for an Italian rider within the Trackhouse team.
VR46/Gresini Ducati Team
It's a bit of a stretch, but should Pramac switch over to Yamaha and its duo of official GP25 bikes get passed on to either VR46, Gresini, or both, could that potentially lure Razgatlioglu?
In recent years, each squad has demonstrated their ability to secure victories in MotoGP, thanks to the efforts of riders Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio di Giannantonio, even while competing on motorcycles from the previous year. Currently, Gresini's racer Marc Marquez is a contender for the 2024 championship title.
Up to this point, no riders for the year 2025 have been disclosed
