Toprak Razgatlioglu Eyes MotoGP Switch in 2025: Manager Confirms WorldSBK Exit Plans
Toprak Razgatlioglu aims to transition from WorldSBK to MotoGP in 2025, according to his manager Kenan Sofuoglu.
Toprak Razgatlioglu, who is currently leading the 2024 World Superbike Championship, has expressed his desire to exit the Superbike World Championship at the conclusion of this year and transition to MotoGP.
This information comes from Speedweek.com, which cites a statement from Kenan Sofuoglu, the manager of Razgatlioglu.
"Toprak is generating significant attention in the MotoGP paddock for the upcoming year."
"We have a contract with BMW that lasts for two years, but I have already notified them that we intend to exit the Superbike World Championship at the end of this year and transition to MotoGP."
"I told them that this is what Toprak wants."
Sofuoglu has stated before that Razgatlioglu would only transition to MotoGP as a member of a factory team.
If the situation remains unchanged, his potential choices for 2025 could include Repsol Honda, Monster Yamaha, or Aprilia, as discussed in the most recent Crash.net MotoGP podcast, since the official Ducati and KTM teams are already occupied.
According to recent information, Joan Mir is nearing a contract renewal with Repsol Honda. Nonetheless, GPone.com claims that Repsol Honda is actually targeting Razgatlioglu.
A switch to Yamaha would likely be even more surprising, given that Razgatlioglu did not feel at ease on an M1 bike during a couple of private tests in the beginning of last year and subsequently left Yamaha to sign with BMW.
Reports suggest that Aprilia is likely to bring Marco Bezzecchi on board. However, if Pramac switches to Yamaha, Bezzecchi could potentially fulfill his ambition of racing a factory GP25 bike while staying with the VR46 team.
Complicating matters further is the belief that BMW is seriously contemplating entering MotoGP, although this is not expected to happen until the technical regulations are revised in 2027.
