Taiwan Investigates Mirage Fighter Jet Crash Amid Concerns Over Aircraft Reliability
Taiwan Investigates Mirage Fighter Jet Crash Following Recent Incident
Taiwan's air force has initiated a special task force to examine the reasons behind a power failure in a French-manufactured Mirage fighter jet as it was returning to its base after a standard training exercise.
Taiwan's air force is probing the reasons behind the crash of a Mirage 2000 fighter jet off the northwest coast of the island during a night training exercise.
A one-seater warplane constructed in France from the air force's second tactical fighter wing departed at 8:05 PM on Tuesday from the Hsinchu Air Base in northwest Taiwan for standard training exercises. Unfortunately, the aircraft experienced a power failure while returning to the base about thirty minutes later.
The coastal patrol of the island rescued pilot Hsieh Pei-hsun from the sea near Hsinchu coast two hours after he went missing.
"The ministry reported that the pilot stayed alert and was transported to a medical facility for additional checks."
