Rast made history in the contemporary DTM by becoming the first driver to achieve five consecutive wins after clinching the victory in the first race, finishing ahead of his Audi teammate Robin Frijns, who started from third on the grid.
Throughout the first half of the race, Rast closely trailed behind Gary Paffett's Mercedes. Immediately following the pit window, Rast intensified his efforts and ultimately overtook Paffett to claim the lead on the 23rd lap.
