Red Bull’s 2025 Shake-Up: Marko Teases Major Driver Line-Up Changes Amid Perez’s Uncertain Future
Helmut Marko hints at a reshuffling of positions as Sergio Perez's status for 2025 remains unclear.
"The lineup will see changes for 2025."
Helmut Marko, an advisor for Red Bull's Formula 1 team, has hinted at potential changes in their driver lineup, suggesting that "the cards will be reshuffled" by 2025.
On Monday, Red Bull announced to Crash.net that Sergio Perez will continue with the team after the F1 summer break, putting a stop to the prolonged rumors regarding the future of the Mexican driver.
A day after the announcement, it was confirmed that RB's racing team would continue with Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo as their drivers.
Speculation arose about Liam Lawson being given a chance to join RB for the latter part of the season, following Ricciardo's promotion to pair with Max Verstappen.
However, since that did not occur, the current situation persists leading up to the Dutch Grand Prix happening later in the month.
In a conversation with F1-Insider, Marko discussed the current state of affairs within Red Bull’s duo of teams, also suggesting potential alterations for the upcoming year.
"Marko confirmed that Perez will remain with the team, expressing a desire for him to regain his previous form. Ricciardo is also set to stay, resulting in no alterations to the team lineup."
"In 2025, the deck will be mixed anew."
Red Bull is looking forward to Perez bouncing back during the latter half of the season, particularly at tracks where he has historically excelled, such as Singapore and Baku.
Before the summer hiatus, Perez showed indications of improvement.
His performance at the Hungaroring was remarkable, outpacing George Russell after they both began the race from the rear of the field.
At Spa, he secured a position at the front row under challenging conditions, but the race turned out to be quite disappointing as he ultimately dropped to seventh place.
Red Bull possibly believes that Ricciardo, who is seen as the probable successor, wouldn't have performed any better, thus influencing their choice.
Nonetheless, McLaren, trailing by just 42 points in the F1 constructors' championship, urgently requires Perez to secure significant points in the near future.
