Quartararo Hails Acosta as MotoGP’s Rising Star: A Look into Future Champions and Personal Career Insights
Exclusive with Fabio Quartararo: He praises Pedro Acosta as "among the most gifted riders witnessed"
Quartararo's take on Acosta: “He has the potential to finish the season on the [championship] podium… In my view, he's among the exceptionally talented riders I've come across”
Fabio Quartarazzo predicts that Pedro Acosta will surpass the accomplishments he achieved as a rookie in 2019 and thinks he has the potential to compete for a top-three spot in this year's MotoGP rankings.
The French rider relentlessly pursued victories against Marc Marquez, who was dealing with an injury before the season, securing fifth place overall with seven podium finishes as a rookie riding for the Petronas Yamaha satellite team.
Acosta presently ranks fifth in the global championship, competing for GASGAS Tech3, and has achieved podium finishes in two grand prix events.
In a conversation with Crash.net at the onset of the Barcelona-Mugello races, Quartararo highlighted that he was positioned twelfth in the rankings by the sixth race, achieving his inaugural MotoGP podium in the following event.
"At this point in the season, during my first year, I had progressed significantly further. So, truthfully, I believe he has the potential to… I'll say it, he could very well be on the championship podium when the season wraps up."
"He's among the most skilled cyclists I've encountered. Though I'm not exactly old, based on my observations and his performance, that's my view."
When asked to elaborate on what he finds most remarkable about Acosta, the racer with 11 MotoGP victories and the 2021 world championship title responded:
"His remarkable ability to adjust to any situation is astounding. The way he's currently executing brakes in MotoGP is insane! Just like the maneuver he pulled off against Marc at Turn 1 in Portimao.
Grasping the concept of MotoGP's front brakes poses a challenge. Yet, for him, sliding seemed to come effortlessly, almost as if it were innate.
"He possesses remarkable riding skills, and it's evident in his relaxed and joyful approach to riding."
Aleix Espargaro Sets a Remarkable Example: Revealed Plans to Retire, Followed by Clinching the Top Spot
Aleix Espargaro, a veteran in the MotoGP circuit in stark contrast to Acosta, has announced his departure from full-time racing, planning to retire at the conclusion of the current season.
At just 25 years old, Quartararo has already renewed his contract with Yamaha for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, but what does he envision for his future beyond that?
"Quartararo made it clear he doesn't intend to continue until the age of 35."
"I've been riding motorcycles for over two decades now, even though it's not been on a MotoGP bike. This has been a lifelong pursuit for me."
"Perhaps when I reach 30, I'll decide I want to keep going further and further!"
"Truthfully, I'm not a big fan of all the traveling involved."
"It's essential to recognize the right moment to cease."
"Aleix's announcement of his retirement, followed by securing the top position the very next day, is truly commendable. I tip my hat off to him; he's setting an exemplary standard."
"For this reason, I am convinced that I won't pursue this path beyond the age of 35."
