Yamaha appoints new managing director to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio set to take over the role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has taken over Lin Jarvis' position at Yamaha.
Starting January 1, 2025, Pavesio will take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing.
He formerly served as Yamaha Motor Europe's Marketing and Motorsport Director, where he overhauled the motorsport division, leading to world championship victories in World Superbikes, EWC, and MXGP.
Pavesio is taking over from Jarvis, who will conclude his 26-year leadership at Yamaha.
Jarvis guided Yamaha to secure eight rider championships, six manufacturer championships, and seven team championships. He managed the peak periods of the Japanese company with riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, along with their latest championship win with Fabio Quartararo.
Even though Jarvis is stepping down from his role as managing director, he will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor for Yamaha.
"On a personal note and representing Yamaha, I express my gratitude to Lin for his commitment and accomplishments throughout the last 26 years," stated Takahiro Sumi, the General Manager of the Motor Sports Development Division.
His dedication, hard work, and leadership have played a crucial role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future.
Lin's successor as Managing Director will be Paolo Pavesio. Pavesio has accumulated extensive experience during his tenure at YME, where he served as the Marketing and Motorsport Director. In this role, he successfully led Yamaha teams to secure World Championship titles in the WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP competitions.
"I am excited about Paolo joining YMR in January and believe his leadership will help Yamaha achieve the MotoGP success we are all aiming for."
