Marquez Triumphs in MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix as Bagnaia’s Championship Hopes Take a Hit
Marc Marquez showcased a commanding performance, taking the lead from the start and securing victory at the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended prematurely due to a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix in the MotoGP series, Marc Marquez clinched his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving it through a commanding performance.
Dominating from the start to the finish, Marquez showcased outstanding speed and ultimately secured victory, crossing the finish line nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin widened his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash caused by a collision with Alex Marquez, who also fell due to the incident.
Bagnaia was making impressive progress through the pack, having initially lost traction on his back tyre from a less clean part of the starting grid. He found himself in seventh position at the outset, climbed to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's crash, advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and then moved into fourth place after pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at the 16th turn.
Several circuits were completed before catching up to Marques, who veered off course at the 12th turn, giving Bagnaia the opportunity to overtake him entering the 13th turn. However, as Bagnaia was making his way into turn 13, he collided with Marquez, causing both riders to crash.
Bagnaia was taken to the medical center following the race, but there has been no new information released regarding his status.
The collision between the pair elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds off the leader's pace.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth place from a 14th position start. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller who completed the top 10 lineup.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales withdrew from the race as well.
Following the race, probes were initiated concerning Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez regarding the pressure of their front tires.
