Official Records of the Misano MotoGP:
Fastest lap: Francesco Bagnaia 1 minute 30.304 seconds (2024)
Quickest lap of the race: Marc Marquez clocked 1 minute and 31.564 seconds (2024)
Marc Marquez continued his strong performance from the San Marino MotoGP weekend by leading the first practice session for the Emilia Romagna event, which is the second round held at Misano.
Due to the wet conditions on the track and the information gathered from the last race weekend and subsequent test, only a few riders had recorded a lap time by the midpoint of the 45-minute session.
Marc Marquez, the victor of 'Misano 1', established a fresh lap record of 1 minute 31.564 seconds in the final moments of the grand prix. During the initial practice session, he led with a time of 1 minute 32.082 seconds, achieved on his tenth and last lap using a soft front tyre and a medium rear tyre.
This positioned the Gresini rider 0.063 seconds in front of Jorge Martin, whose lead over Francesco Bagnaia has been reduced to 7 points following an unsuccessful pit stop strategy in the San Marino Grand Prix.
This morning, Bagnaia recorded the fourth quickest time, trailing Martin’s Pramac teammate and San Marino Sprint podium finisher, Franco Morbidelli. The Emilia Romagna GP marks the second consecutive race at Misano, filling in for the canceled India and Kazakhstan events.
Joan Mir of Repsol Honda was absent for the entire San Marino Grand Prix because of severe gastroenteritis, while his teammate also pulled out of Sunday's race due to illness.
