Marco Bezzecchi’s Dream Realized: Joins Aprilia as Factory Rider for 2025 MotoGP Season
Marco Bezzecchi fulfills his aspirations by signing with Aprilia, securing a factory rider position for the 2025 MotoGP season.
April has been a chaotic period for Aprilia, starting with the news that their leading rider, Aleix Espargaro, will retire in 2025.
Following that, they made a significant move by signing Jorge Martin, the title leader from Pramac Ducati, to replace Espargaro. Meanwhile, Maverick Vinales, who has won races recently, committed his future to Tech3 KTM.
The Aprilia factory team has now finalized its lineup for next season as Marco Bezzecchi, who has won multiple races in 2023, will replace Vinales.
In a recent episode of the Crash.net MotoGP podcast, MotoGP editor Pete McLaren commented just ahead of the formal announcement regarding the Bezzecchi-Aprilia agreement.
The anticipated agreement involving Bezzecchi is logical.
"Bezzecchi has consistently expressed his desire to become a factory rider, and this is the final 'race-winning' factory position up for grabs for the 2025 season."
"The Ducati team has confirmed their lineup for the upcoming two years, and the same goes for KTM. Martin has secured one of the seats with Aprilia, and this is the other one available."
"This is a major opportunity for Bezzecchi, and I believe he must seize it."
Some people believe he could receive a factory-spec Ducati at VR46 next year, assuming Pramac switches to Yamaha and Ducati reallocates those motorcycles.
"However, I believe that if you truly aspire to become a full-time factory MotoGP rider, this is the opportunity."
"It meets every criterion if you're Marco Bezzecchi."
"It’s possible that the agreement has already been finalized, and we’re merely awaiting the official announcement…"
“It seems logical to me, and we’ll have to wait and see how Bezzecchi performs this weekend at Assen, where he finished second behind Francesco Bagnaia last year.”
“This weekend, Aprilia's motorcycle has shown impressive performance, particularly in the high-speed turns of Assen's final sector.
"Regrettably, it appears they have sacrificed some of their corner speed to enhance braking performance this year. However, Assen lacks significant braking zones."
"It will be intriguing to observe the developments, particularly in the final sector where Aleix has historically performed exceptionally well on the RS-GP."
“Certainly, Trackhouse racer Raul Fernandez will continue riding the 2023 bike, making him a potential contender to keep an eye on.”
