Marco Bezzecchi Set to Join Aprilia for MotoGP 2025 in High-Profile Team Shake-Up
Announcement: Aprilia Welcomes Marco Bezzecchi for the 2025 MotoGP Season
The Aprilia racing team has confirmed that Marco Bezzecchi will be part of their squad in the 2025 MotoGP championship.
Marco Bezzecchi's move to the official Aprilia team for the 2025 MotoGP season has been formally announced.
Bezzecchi is set to team up with the current championship frontrunner and Aprilia's recent acquisition, Jorge Martin, in a completely revamped RS-GP roster. This change comes in the wake of Aleix Espargaro's retirement and Maverick Vinales' unexpected move to Tech3 KTM.
The youthful Italian rider has dedicated his entire three-season MotoGP career to Valentino Rossi's VR46 Ducati squad, securing three victories and achieving a third-place finish in the previous year's global championship.
The performance of the year-old GP23 has not met expectations this season, and although there's a possibility that a factory GP25 could be accessible next season at VR46, depending on Pramac's departure from Ducati, Bezzecchi has consistently expressed his desire to join a factory team.
Aprilia has successfully met its goal of having an Italian rider compete in a home race for the first time since Lorenzo Savadori in 2020, referring to the duo of Martin and Bezzecchi as "our top picks".
"Massimo Rivola, the CEO of Aprilia Racing, extended a warm welcome to an exceptional Italian talent, noting his impressive track record since his early days in the lower divisions, and highlighting his spectacular achievements and notable solo wins in last year's MotoGP," Rivola expressed.
The anticipation is high to welcome Bez to Noale; the combination of the Italian motorcycle and the Italian racer is thrilling, but the prospect of the team that will emerge with Jorge is even more exhilarating.
"We're thrilled about our 2025 roster, having Martín and Bezzecchi as our top picks due to their youth, skill, resilience, and ambition. Together, they enable us to craft a significant new chapter in the legacy of Aprilia Racing."
Similar to Martin, Bezzecchi, who was initially targeted by Aprilia for a MotoGP spot directly from Moto2 for the 2021 season, has also committed to a 'multi-year deal'.
Bezzecchi's agreement ensures that the official rider positions for Ducati, KTM, and Aprilia are all confirmed for the 2025 season.
Honda and Yamaha each have one remaining factory team spot yet to be finalized.
