Marco Bezzecchi Secures Dream Factory Ride with Aprilia for 2025 MotoGP Season Amid Team Shake-ups
Marco Bezzecchi fulfills his dream move by becoming a factory rider, sealing a deal with Aprilia for the 2025 MotoGP championship.
Recent weeks have been turbulent for Aprilia, starting with the departure of their lead rider, Aleix Espargaro, who announced his retirement in 2025 from the Noale-based team.
Subsequently, the acquisition of Jorge Martin, the reigning champion from Pramac Ducati, as a replacement for Espargaro was a strategic move. This was followed by the current race victor, Maverick Vinales, committing his future to Tech3 KTM.
The Aprilia factory team's lineup is now fully confirmed for the upcoming season, as Marco Bezzecchi, a multiple race winner in 2023, has committed to filling the spot vacated by Vinales.
On the most recent episode of the Crash.net MotoGP podcast, shortly before the official confirmation of the Bezzecchi-Aprilia agreement was made public, Pete McLaren, the MotoGP editor, commented:
The anticipated agreement involving Bezzecchi is a logical move.
Bezzecchi has consistently expressed his ambition to join a factory team, and this remains the final competitive, 'race-winning' factory position open for 2025.
The Ducati and KTM racing squads have no vacancies for the coming two seasons. One of the Aprilia slots has been taken by Martin, leaving this one available.
"This represents a significant opportunity for Bezzecchi, and I believe he must seize it.
"Some individuals might suggest that he has the opportunity to obtain a factory-standard Ducati from VR46 next season, should Pramac switch to Yamaha and Ducati reallocates those motorcycles."
"However, I believe that if your ultimate goal is to become a premier MotoGP rider, this opportunity is your best shot."
If you're Marco Bezzecchi, it meets every criteria.
"Possibly, the agreement has already been finalized, and we're merely anticipating the official statement…"
"However, it's logical for me, and let's observe Bezzecchi's performance this weekend at Assen, considering he finished just behind Francesco Bagnaia last year."
"This weekend, it's clear that Aprilia's motorcycle has demonstrated strong performance in the high-speed bends of Assen's last sector."
"Regrettably, it appears they've sacrificed some of their cornering velocity to enhance their performance in heavy braking this season. Moreover, Assen doesn't feature many significant braking zones.
"It will be fascinating to observe the outcomes, particularly in the last sector where Aleix has previously excelled on the RS-GP."
"Indeed, Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse will continue to compete on the 2023 motorcycle, making him a potential standout in the upcoming races."
