Luca Marini Eyes Breakthrough Opportunities at Assen and Sachsenring Amid Honda’s Struggles
Luca Marini views Assen and Sachsenring as opportunities for Honda to "investigate numerous aspects."
Heading into this weekend's Dutch round at Assen, Luca Marini stands out as the sole full-time MotoGP competitor yet to earn any points.
The Italian rider has struggled to achieve significant advancements riding the RC213V, which falls short in performance when pitted against its competitors.
Despite completing all the races this season, Marini's highest finish has been 16th place, achieved at both COTA and Le Mans.
Nonetheless, the ex-Ducati competitor anticipates that Honda will experiment with numerous strategies during the upcoming two races in an effort to narrow the gap with the leading riders.
"Marini expressed excitement about rejoining the team and continuing development work on the Honda."
"After an extended hiatus, I'm eager to pick up where we left off, especially after we made significant progress at the end of the weekend in Mugello."
"I'm confident that these upcoming two weeks will be beneficial for the entire Repsol Honda Team before we officially enter the MotoGP ‘Summer Break’."
"Assen and Sachsenring present distinct track layouts, allowing for a wide range of explorations."
"Efficiency in performance is crucial" – Mir
Despite facing challenges in his second season with the Japanese manufacturer, Mir is on the verge of sealing a fresh contract with Honda. He aims to progress after a 2024 season marred by numerous accidents.
Mir stated, "Following a hectic beginning of the year, I've dedicated the past three weeks to concentrate on training and work."
"Next on the agenda are consecutive races before we take another brief hiatus. It's crucial that we perform efficiently both at this weekend's event in Assen and the following one in Germany."
"During the next intermission, we'll seize the opportunity to further refine our motorcycle and continue making enhancements. We should tackle it with the same level of dedication as we always do."
