Leclerc Welcomes Hamilton to Ferrari: A Game-Changing Partnership in F1 2025
Charles Leclerc forecasts the influence Lewis Hamilton's entry will exert on Ferrari in the 2025 F1 season.
Charles Leclerc is of the opinion that Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari will significantly benefit the team in the 2025 F1 season.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton is set to make one of the most significant moves in F1 history as he departs Mercedes to sign a multi-year contract with the Italian team starting next season.
Leclerc is looking forward to competing directly with the most accomplished driver in F1, sharing the same equipment. He finds it "incredibly fascinating" to have the opportunity to learn from the 39-year-old, whom he views as "one of the greatest of all time".
"Clearly, very favorable," is how Leclerc described to the Beyond the Grid podcast the effect Hamilton joining Ferrari will have.
"I believe that when a winner such as Lewis joins a team, he inspires immense motivation in every team member.
"His arrival at Ferrari is set to bring a significant positive impact, especially with the wealth of experience he's gained at Mercedes. He brings with him a unique approach and perspective, which is always advantageous for a team."
"For me, it's going to be an incredible experience since I'll be sharing a car with the most victorious driver in F1 history. This presents a fantastic opportunity for me to absorb knowledge from one of the greatest, while also serving as a significant challenge and inspiration to outperform Lewis and demonstrate my abilities."
In his seven-year tenure with Ferrari, Leclerc will welcome Hamilton as his third colleague, after having previously partnered with the accomplished Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz. Over a span of two years, Leclerc significantly surpassed Vettel's performance and has mostly maintained an advantage over Sainz.
When questioned about his feelings on potentially defeating Hamilton in an identical vehicle, Leclerc said, "I'm not sure, and frankly, I haven't even begun to consider that possibility."
"I simply concentrate on improving myself, aiming to reach my peak performance by the time he arrives. Naturally, I strive to excel every time I'm competing, but with Lewis coming on board, he'll certainly set a standard. It's crucial for me to be at my best, and then we'll observe how things unfold."
"I'm going to put forth my utmost effort, he's going to do the same, and afterwards, we'll find out what happens. Once it's over, if I succeed, I'll share how it feels."
Leclerc mentions that this year, he's dedicated more effort to understanding Hamilton better.
"In the grand scheme of things, everything's a matter of perspective, yet when it comes to the paddock, he's unmistakably among the racers with whom, particularly of late, our conversations have most frequently ventured beyond the track, touching on shared interests like music and fashion," he explained.
"It was beneficial to discuss this topic, particularly, but beyond that, we haven't really spent much time together outside of this context."
"Clearly, once he becomes a part of the team and takes on the additional responsibilities we have off the track, we'll have the opportunity to deepen our understanding of each other."
