The Department of Energy (DOE) is looking to secure the provisional loan agreement before the end of the Biden administration. This urgency is due to President-elect Donald Trump's criticism of Biden's policies to promote electric vehicle production, as reported by Reuters.

Upon authorization, the financing will support the construction of a pair of battery facilities in Kokomo, Indiana, which are being established through the StarPlus Energy collaboration between Stellantis and Samsung SDI. The initial factory is expected to commence operations in 2025, followed by the second facility in 2027. These two facilities in Indiana are a continuation of a longstanding partnership that began with the initial low-production Fiat 500e that utilized battery cells from Samsung SDI.

Upcoming 2024 Model of the Jeep Wag

Stellantis, in collaboration with Samsung SDI, is targeting an annual production capacity of 67 gigawatt-hours in Indiana, as reported by the DOE. Additionally, Stellantis is progressing with a project in Canada, working alongside LG Energy Solution on a solitary facility. In 2022, the car manufacturer announced its goal to surpass 45 gigawatt-hours in production capacity. The EREVs are powered by a 95 horsepower 1.5-liter gasoline engine that functions as a generator for the 217 horsepower electric motor. It has an electric range of 200 kilometers, and a total range of 1,300 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle. It's yet to be determined if we'll see it (and in what form) in our part of the world.

Recurrent, a company that generates health assessments for pre-owned electric vehicle batteries, forecasts that by the decade's end, the cost of installing new batteries will be less than the expense of fixing a traditional gas engine, thanks to the rapidly declining prices of new batteries.

Upcoming 2025 Model of Hyundai Ioni

If the cost of fixing a car part, such as an engine or battery, surpasses the vehicle's worth, then economically, it's not justifiable to proceed with the repair. Recurrent notes a shift in the expenses related to swapping out a car's battery. Presently, the price is about three-quarters of a $15,000 pre-owned car's value, a decrease from the previous full value in 2020. The firm predicts that by the year 2030, the cost to replace a battery will drop to only a third of the value of a similarly priced second-hand car.

The decreased expense of producing batteries for electric vehicles is enabling this advancement. According to Recurrent, Goldman Sachs had forecasted a reduction in the average price of batteries to $80 per kilowatt-hour by 2026, marking a near halving from the prices in 2023. Kia announces a recall for 62,872 of its EV6 electric models due to potential damage to the onboard charging control units that may cause the vehicle to enter a low-power driving state.

The NHTSA has announced a recall for vehicle models from the years 2022 to 2024. The issue lies with the built-in charging control units that could be impaired by specific electrical loads, leading to a failure in charging the cars' 12-volt batteries.

Upcoming 2024 model of Kia's

When the 12-volt battery fails to charge, the car switches to an emergency mode that slowly decreases its power the more it's driven. The NHTSA states that if this happens, drivers will notice alert sounds and illuminated warning signals on the dashboard.

The solution includes a software update for the charging control unit, along with a check of the unit and its fuse, with replacements made if necessary. Dealerships will handle these services at no cost to vehicle owners. Kia plans to send out letters to vehicle owners on December 13 to inform them. Additionally, owners can reach out to Kia's customer service at 1-800-333-4542 for further details. The recall's reference number assigned by Kia is SC327.

Upcoming 2024 model of Kia's

The NHTSA has verified that certain cars which had been recalled earlier for an identical problem will require additional repairs under the new recall. This previous recall had also impacted electric vehicles from Hyundai and its affiliate Genesis, and a number of these will be subject to a second recall to resolve the same concern.

The reason for this recall is a problem with the braking system that could let the vehicles move forward or backward even without any pressure on the accelerator pedal. The increased cost for the 2025 model, taking into account the compulsory $1,295 shipping fee, is for the latest S E-Tron GT, now the most basic variant. Equipped with a standard dual-motor all-wheel drive system, it boasts a power output of 670 horsepower, a significant jump from the former entry-level version's 523 horsepower. Audi claims this enhancement shaves 0.6 seconds off the 0-60 mph sprint, bringing it down to 3.3 seconds when utilizing launch control.

The S E-Tron GT comes in two versions: Premium Plus and the more expensive Prestige model, which is priced at $137,095 including destination fees. Additionally, the high-powered RS E-Tron GT is making a comeback, exclusively in a newly introduced Performance version that's priced at $168,295 with destination charges included.

Upcoming 2025 model of the Audi RS E-Tron

The enhanced RS E-Tron GT Performance variants deliver a robust 912 horsepower, a significant increase from the earlier model's 647 horsepower. Audi predicts that with the aid of launch control, these vehicles can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds. Additionally, there's a push-to-pass feature that provides an extra boost of 94 horsepower for short 10-second intervals at speeds exceeding 19 mph. This makes it the strongest and fastest Audi production vehicle ever made.

Each version utilizes a 105-kwh battery unit that's also found in the revamped 2025 Porsche Taycan, which is built on the same base as the Audi. Even though the capacity has gone up by 12% from the former 93.4-kwh battery, Audi asserts that they have managed to cut down the weight by 25 pounds. The S E-Tron GT's projected range, according to the EPA, hits 300 miles with 20-inch wheels, marking a significant enhancement from the 2024 Audi E-Tron GT's 249-mile range.

Audi states that the charging capacity has been boosted from 270 kilowatts to 320 kilowatts, which cuts down the charging duration for a 10% to 80% battery level from 21.5 minutes to just 18 minutes. Furthermore, Audi asserts that the highest amount of energy that can be recaptured through regenerative braking has risen from 290 kilowatts to 400 kilowatts, allowing for a deceleration force of up to 0.45g from the regenerative system alone.

Audi has focused on enhancing the internal features of its latest model, maintaining the original external design, a strategy reminiscent of the one adopted for the 2025 Taycan. Upon initial testing, it's clear that the 2025 Taycan delivers on its promises, offering increased range and better charging functionality, all the while preserving its notable balance and control at high speeds.

We can't wait to jump back into the driver's seat of the updated E-Tron GT. The original model was more focused on a smooth ride compared to the Taycan's agility. It won't be much of a wait since the 2025 E-Tron GT is already up for grabs in the U.S. market, and they're continuing to roll them out from the Böllinger Höfe plant in Germany.

Wolfsburg has some positive news to share: The series production of the Volkswagen Tayron has officially commenced this week, with plant manager Uwe Schwartz, works council member Jürgen Mahnkopf, and employees from various departments in attendance to mark the occasion. The Tayron, a spacious SUV measuring approximately 4.80 meters in length and offering an optional seven-seat configuration, now becomes the fourth vehicle to be assembled at Volkswagen's largest manufacturing facility. To date, the Wolfsburg plant has produced over 48 million vehicles, more than any other car factory in the world.

Plant Manager Uwe Schwartz took the opportunity at the commencement of production, colloquially known as SOP, to express gratitude to all the colleagues involved across various trades: "Launching a new vehicle is always a collective effort from the entire production team. With the Tayron, numerous components came together seamlessly: from the pressing plant, body construction, and paint shop to the assembly line and the final vehicle completion," commended Schwartz.

According to Schwartz, the collaboration with other departments such as procurement and technical development went smoothly. This was crucial in adhering closely to the SOP schedule that was set long ago, almost to the exact day. This achievement came despite the challenge of integrating the Tayron production into the ongoing Tiguan manufacturing on assembly line 4. "In the weeks ahead, we are fully committed to ramping up Tayron production successfully," stated the plant manager.

Deputy Chairman of the General and Group Works Council Jürgen Mahnkopf stated, "The start of production of the Tayron represents a significant milestone for the Wolfsburg plant. I am confident that our new SUV will continue the success of its predecessor, the Tiguan Allspace, and will play a vital role in securing jobs. The vehicle is already winning over customers in China, and I believe it will attract numerous buyers in Europe as well."

The manufacturing team has done an excellent job despite challenging circumstances. While producing the pre-series Tayron, they also had to handle the launches of the new Tiguan and the Golf product enhancement. They succeeded together as a team. A heartfelt thank you from the entire facility.

The first mass-produced vehicle to come off the production line this week was a Tayron sporting an Ultra Violet Metallic hue, equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI engine and a panoramic sunroof. In Germany, the cost for this model, which appears to have the Elegance trim based on the wheels, without any additional features, is 55,310 euros.

Over the next few weeks, Wolfsburg will begin production of display and demonstration vehicles for Volkswagen dealerships across Europe. Starting in March 2025, these showrooms will feature the brand's second largest SUV in Europe after the Touareg, with deliveries to customers following shortly thereafter.

Customers will soon have the option to choose from seven different engine models, including two next-generation plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid). According to VW, these will offer an electric range exceeding 100 km and allow for long journeys of up to 850 km without needing to refuel.
