Honor Dethrones Samsung: Claims Top Spot in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei seized the top position in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones, following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics to take the top spot as the leading producer of foldable handsets in Western Europe, as per data from the industry analysis firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, has clinched the top spot for the first time in the second quarter. The second biggest market for foldable phones, after China, is Western Europe, where a heated competition ensues among companies like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per the recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, the company that introduced its widely-liked Magic V2 in a unique book-style format to markets outside China last September, experienced a 455% increase in worldwide foldable product shipments in the second quarter. This growth rate was the highest among all brands for that year, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has retained its position as the leading folding-phone brand for two quarters in a row, largely due to its strong success in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
