Hamilton’s Resurgence: Eyeing Championship Glory with Ferrari After Stellar Mercedes Comeback
Lewis Hamilton is "firmly back in contention" and "focused on battling for the championship" with Ferrari.
"Lewis is definitely back at his best. He's now setting his sights on competing for the championship next year."
Famed Formula 1 team leader Eddie Jordan thinks Lewis Hamilton has fully returned to his top performance level.
Hamilton is currently among the top performers in Formula 1, securing wins in two of the recent three races.
Over the past eight races, solely Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri have amassed more points than the seven-time world champion.
Mercedes' performance improved significantly with an upgrade introduced in Monaco, which resulted in George Russell securing the team's initial podium finish in the following race.
Russell secured a victory in Austria, whereas Hamilton achieved victories at both Silverstone and Spa.
At the start of the year, Jordan expressed doubts about Hamilton's drive as he plans to move to Ferrari in 2025.
Considering Mercedes' advancements, Jordan now thinks Hamilton has returned to his peak form.
During his appearance on the Formula for Success podcast, he mentioned, "Lewis, in my opinion, was initially very keen on moving to Ferrari at the start of the year, concentrating on bringing in the right team and ensuring Fred Vasseur was part of that setup.
"Ferrari is set to emerge as a formidable force in the coming year, and they'll be thrilled at the prospect of Lewis making a comeback. Despite any reassurances given to Ferrari like, 'Look at our performance at Mercedes, don't stress over it, we have the capability to outperform George and any other competitors, we're gearing up to be a dominant team,' their excitement remains undiminished."
"The Mercedes squad is anticipated to perform robustly in the future, yet Ferrari is expected to show remarkable strength."
"I believe Lewis has returned to top form. Now, he's setting his sights on competing for a championship next year. And really, who can argue that he's mistaken?"
Hamilton aims to conclude Ferrari's prolonged absence from securing an F1 championship by 2025.
It has been since 2007 that Ferrari last secured a drivers' championship, and this year appears to offer little hope of victory for either of their drivers, Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz.
At the beginning of the year, they were ranked as the second-quickest team, but McLaren and Mercedes have now surpassed them.
The improvements Ferrari introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix were unsuccessful, as the issue of bouncing resurfaced during fast corners.
