Esteban Ocon to Depart Alpine After 2024 Season: A Look at His Journey and Future Prospects
Esteban Ocon's tenure with Alpine to conclude after the 2024 F1 campaign
Alpine has confirmed their separation from Esteban Ocon following the conclusion of the current season.
Alpine has disclosed that Esteban Ocon is set to depart from the squad following the conclusion of the 2024 Formula 1 campaign.
Ocon's agreement with the French car maker was set to end when this year concluded.
Nonetheless, the duo has consented to mutually separate before the year 2025.
Ocon has been strongly associated with potential transfers to Haas and Sauber lately, following Alpine's disappointing performance at the beginning of the season.
The bond between Alpine and the victor of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix seems to have soured, especially following Ocon's bold maneuver to pass Pierre Gasly at the beginning of the previous month's Monaco Grand Prix.
Ocon first became a part of the squad in 2020, taking over from Nico Hulkenberg.
He achieved his first F1 podium finish at the Sakhir Grand Prix that year, followed by securing his initial win in Hungary.
Ocon played a pivotal role in steering his team to an outstanding fourth-place finish in the 2022 constructors' championship, working closely with Fernando Alonso.
Discussing the update, Ocon expressed, "This phase of my life, racing with this Formula 1 team, has been momentous. Although I've spent five years as a main driver here, my journey in the professional realm began at Enstone during my teenage years, making it an unforgettable location for me."
"We've shared some wonderful experiences, faced challenges together, and I'm truly thankful to all the team members for these unforgettable moments.
"I'll be revealing my intentions shortly, but for now, my complete attention is dedicated to performing well for this team and ensuring a victorious end to the season."
Team leader Bruno Famin expressed his gratitude, stating: "First and foremost, we want to extend our appreciation to Esteban for his dedication over the last five years. His tenure has been marked by incredible achievements, with the highlight being our triumphant victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, a race that will remain in our memories."
"In 2024, we are set to tackle 16 more races, all while maintaining a sharp focus on our goal: to collaborate as a unit relentlessly in our pursuit of outstanding performances on the track."
"We sincerely hope Esteban enjoys great success in the upcoming phase of his racing journey when it arrives."
