Eddie Jordan Debunks Adrian Newey Ferrari Move Rumors Amidst Leak Claims from David Coulthard
Eddie Jordan faces allegations that Adrian Newey's Ferrari opportunity has expired
David Coulthard alleges "highly placed source" disclosed information
Eddie Jordan has reacted to the notion that the pathway for Adrian Newey to join Ferrari has closed.
In a surprising turn of events, F1 veteran Jordan was revealed to be the manager of Newey, sparking curiosity about Newey's future endeavors.
In the early months of the upcoming year, Newey is set to depart from his role as the chief technical officer at Red Bull, sparking speculation about which team might next gain from his vast experience.
"Are they feeling the absence of Newey? Clearly, I'm not going to respond to that," Jordan remarked on his Formula For Success podcast.
David Coulthard remarked, "I believe attributing the increased competitiveness of the field to Adrian's announcement of his departure from the team next year, made a few races back, is incorrect."
It seems absurd to consider. We're not talking about stock values here. When Apple's founder passed away, the stock value fell despite the company having recently released an impressive lineup of new products.
"The stock market heavily relies on emotional responses. On the other hand, the efficacy of a race car is determined by the actual output and the tangible products created."
The notion that Adrian has made up his mind not to stay with Red Bull for the long haul is as imaginary as the moment you finally pick a side and disclose where you've managed to negotiate the most advantageous agreement!
"We are anticipating the declaration."
"When the time comes to reveal his move to Aston Martin, should we really expect their racing times to improve by half a second merely because of that news?"
Certainly not. He must embark on the extensive process of familiarizing himself with the team members, understanding the facilities, and implementing his vision.
"Achieving that level of success can span several years. At Red Bull, it required four to five years for it to materialize."
Jordan addressed the assertion regarding Aston Martin, saying, "You've expressed an opinion on Adrian's potential future destination."
"My response to you is twofold: firstly, it's hard for me to accept that your statement is in a position to be deemed as an undeniable truth."
Coulthard remarked, "He definitely won't be joining Ferrari."
Jordan inquired, "What makes you say so? I'm eager to understand."
Coulthard: "A highly placed insider has confirmed that he won't be joining McLaren unless it involves their road car division."
"Why introduce Adrian to a situation that's currently successful? McLaren has identified a successful development path."
Jordan stated, "The ideas you've presented are quite imaginative. Recall the points both I and Adrian have mentioned…
"The situation remains uncertain. Your recent statement is incorrect and imaginative."
Coulthard inquired, "Then, where is he headed?"
Jordan responded, "What's the point in me disclosing that? The explanation for the secrecy is simple: it's the summer season, he attended Goodwood with the RB17, and his collaboration with Red Bull is ongoing."
Some might suggest that Red Bull consider reaching out to him to see if he would return, but I believe it's already too late.
The truth of the matter is that Adrian is currently taking a break. He has been continuously working every moment, around the clock, from the age of 19. Now in his mid-60s, he is enjoying himself, celebrating his daughter's wedding, and engaging in activities he previously didn’t have the opportunity to explore.
Ferrari refuted claims to Crash.net originally made by Italian press about engaging in talks with Newey, which allegedly fell through over his wage demands.
Starting his role with a new team next year will afford him sufficient time to influence the development of their 2026 vehicle.
Therefore, Newey's next company hopes he will give them the momentum needed to take the lead under the upcoming F1 rules.
