Damon Hill Advises Yuki Tsunoda to Target Aston Martin Seat Amid Red Bull F1 Snub
Yuki Tsunoda advised to contact Aston Martin as opportunities with Red Bull F1 close
"I would suggest he reaches out to Aston Martin given his Japanese heritage and their upcoming collaboration with Honda."
1996 Formula One world champion Damon Hill has advised Yuki Tsunoda to consider contacting Aston Martin if Red Bull continues to ignore him.
Despite surpassing Daniel Ricciardo in all aspects up to this point in 2024, Red Bull is not viewing Tsunoda as a potential candidate for the main team.
Ricciardo and Liam Lawson were considered the leading candidates to take over from Perez, should Red Bull decide on a switch.
Last week, Red Bull affirmed that Perez will keep his position for the time being as he aims to regain his performance level at circuits where he has historically excelled, like Baku and Singapore.
During his appearance on the F1 Nation podcast, Hill suggested that Tsunoda might consider Aston Martin as an option, given that opportunities at Red Bull appear to be limited.
"Hill mentioned that if he were in his position, he would reach out to Aston Martin, noting the driver's Japanese heritage and the forthcoming partnership with Honda."
Hill implied that Max Verstappen would probably favor Ricciardo as a teammate due to their strong bond.
Following the Belgian Grand Prix, they were seen departing the race track in a helicopter.
Several supporters speculated it was a subtle introduction to their reunion as teammates – however, this notion was eventually debunked by Red Bull.
"He correctly pointed out that it's beyond my comprehension and it really doesn't add up," he further stated.
Observing images of Max exiting the track via helicopter alongside Daniel Ricciardo, both beaming with joy, gives off the vibe of their camaraderie. It seems Max would be quite content having Danny Ric as a team member.
"If he holds enough sway within the team to potentially affect that choice, then indeed, there's significant pressure to include Danny."
"By supporting him, they've revitalized his spirit. His showings have noticeably improved. It's undeniable."
