Binder’s Rolling Burnout and Miller’s Rins Encounter: Highlights from Aragon’s Intense MotoGP Weekend
Brad Binder exclaimed, "I ended up doing another rolling burnout!" Meanwhile, Jack Miller commented that he was "overtaken by Rins." Binder went on to say, "I had a solid strategy in mind last night to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder had his most successful MotoGP weekend since the season began in Qatar, securing 4th and 6th place finishes at Aragon.
This happened even though he spun off the line in both races, and his seventh-place finish was from the more favorable part of a messy starting grid.
During the middle part of the race, Binder followed rookie Pedro Acosta. Their competition for position turned into a fight for third place after Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta managed to stay slightly beyond their grasp.
"I had a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start, and I did another rolling burnout just like I did yesterday!" Binder said with a smile.
"I navigated through and overtook several racers. It was challenging to avoid errors as the front tire was overheating while trailing behind others until the final part of the race."
"I attempted to gain time by accelerating out of the corners since I couldn't enter them too quickly due to the front tire overheating. However, this strategy backfired, and ultimately, the left side of the tire was completely worn out."
"I put in all my effort to overtake Pedro, but my rear was completely worn out!"
"Besides that, we took some very promising steps forward this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective over the duration of the race."
Fellow racer Jack Miller had a powerful start, moving up from 15th place to 8th by the conclusion of the first lap. However, the Australian quickly encountered issues with maintaining rear traction.
Having been overtaken by Alex Rins on the final lap for the ninth position, he subsequently received a 16-second penalty after the race for tyre pressure violations, which relegated him to 15th place.
"It's been a long race," Miller commented. "The track conditions have varied once more. It was quite dirty throughout the weekend, but today it felt more slippery than usual."
“I gave it my all. It was challenging to manage the [medium] rear tire and I experienced a significant highside incident while exiting the final corner.
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. There were several challenges when moving from the outer part of the tire to the center, but I managed to finish successfully."
"I didn't make any errors during the race, but I found it challenging to keep up with the leaders. We'll continue to work hard."
Thrilled to finish in the top ten, but Rins managed to overtake me on the back straight during the final lap. I was trying to be as accurate as possible, but I didn't get a good acceleration and he was able to outpace me down the back straight.
“We’ll return to Misano.”
Test rider Pol Espargaro will be participating as a wild-card entry, increasing KTM's total number of riders to five this weekend.
Team manager Francesco Guidotti stated, "Next, we head to Misano, not only for the race but also for the subsequent test and Pol’s wildcard entry, which will provide us with valuable insights for the future."
The initial Misano MotoGP race will commence with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, who currently ranks fifth in the world championship standings.
Miller, who may be formally announced as a Pramac Yamaha racer at the team's local Italian events, currently holds the 15th position and trails Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo by three points.
